Yeah, I don't think we're even CLOSE to getting this. If God is infinite, we CAN'T be close because how much can you ever grasp infinity? No matter how far you go, you still have infinity ahead of you.

I was always taught in church that we've got this whole "God" thing all figured out. The more I study and learn the more I see there is so much more we will never understand. I really don't see how we as finite humans can really have that firm a grasp on this infinite God we love. I sure like the chase though.

You are welcome, thanks for reading. That post came from a deeply heartfelt place. My work as a pastor brings me into constant contact with well-meaning, kind-hearted, sincere people who have serious questions about God and spiritual issues, but have spent their lives being told to just "have more faith" or "stop asking so many questions." We way underrate how huge it is simply to desire to know God, whatever problems, doubts, issues, or concerns one has along the way.

I found this to be one of the most encouraging pieces I have ever read addressing the issues that keep an individual from approaching God. I know all kinds of people (& me too!) who struggle with all or some of the scenarios you described so well in the third paragraph. The scripture references are perfect....thank you!

I could not agree more....it is so simple but we just can't seem to step back and look at ourselves. Not as "Americans" but just as a world wide group of people trying our best to live a life worthy of our calling. The inner life brought forth in love for our God and our fellow man.
